Mark is a leader and innovator in the medical communications field. He founded BioScience Communications, a division of Edelman, and led its growth from startup to full service, global agency, the first ever housed in a major public relations firm.
With long-time colleagues Stacey George and Marlies Winter, Mark is delighted to be launching E3 Science Partners, a new venture in scientific communications and strategy.
Mark is experienced and knowledgeable in all facets of medical communications, with a focus on developing and refining the messaging and science story that distinguish emerging products and platforms and drives their outreach efforts. He also supports clients in their critical interactions with the FDA, having established the regulatory offering at BioScience and Edelman and serving as lead writer for 30+ FDA Advisory Committee meeting preparations.
Mark’s areas of therapeutic interest and expertise include Alzheimer’s and progressive CNS disease, auto-immune and inflammatory disease, gene therapy, heart failure and cardiovascular disease, molecular diagnostics, ophthalmology, opioid abuse and addiction, rare diseases, and targeted drug design and selection.
Outside of work, he enjoys mentoring young people in his community and volunteering with nonprofit organizations that guide students from diverse backgrounds on their college and career journeys.
Mark received his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and did graduate work and taught at New York University.

Strategic, people-focused, and dynamic, Stacey has worked with biotech, pharma, and medical device organizations to build and execute optimal communications for unique market positioning. Her work has spanned US and global clients, including Amgen, Novartis, Regeneron, Pfizer, Bayer, REGENXBIO, Recordati, Lundbeck, and Aerie. She has championed teams to create effective plans, advisory boards, congress activities, and digital content to support brands, portfolios, and technologies. She is also well versed in US and global compliance and regulatory considerations.
Stacey has experience in multiple therapeutic categories, including immune diseases (allergies, asthma, lupus, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis), neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, and rare diseases.
Stacey was formerly Executive Vice President at BioScience Communications, a division of Daniel J Edelman, where she worked for more than 25 years. Together with Mark Deitch and Marlies Winter, Stacey helped to grow BioScience from a small group of stakeholders to a global medical communications company. In addition to her responsibilities in client and staff management, she led compliance for 15 years.
Stacey graduated with a degree in Public Relations from Syracuse University. She also received her Master’s of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from Syracuse. She has a certificate in Digital Marketing Strategies, Digital Communications, and Media/Multimedia from Northwestern University.

Marlies is thrilled to bring her 25+ years of industry experience to bear for E3 Science Partners and its clients. Seasoned in all aspects of scientific communications, Marlies has developed communications strategies and overseen implementation of domestic and global medical education programs for clients such as AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly & Company, Human Genome Sciences, InterMune, Novartis, Otsuka, and Takeda. A specialist in publication planning and execution, Marlies has directed publications programs across a range of products and therapeutic disciplines. She has also spearheaded development of multiple MSL and other medical affairs tools using both traditional and digital media, and has led successful medical congress engagement strategies for products at all stages of development.
Marlies has developed expertise in multiple therapeutic categories, include rare diseases, cardiovascular medicine, antithrombotic/antiplatelet agents, diabetes and metabolic disorders, migraine, rheumatology, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Marlies was formerly Executive Vice President and Deputy General Manager at BioScience Communications, a division of Daniel J Edelman, where she worked for more than 20 years. Together with Mark Deitch and Stacey George, Marlies helped to grow BioScience from a small group of stakeholders to a global medical communications company. She began her Edelman career as a medical writer in the Health division. Prior to joining Edelman, Marlies worked at a boutique biotechnology consulting firm.
Marlies graduated cum laude from Princeton University, with a degree in Biology. She received her Master’s degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico, and is the author of several papers in the field of ecology and evolutionary biology.
